At Monument Academy, gifted services take a variety of forms from small group pull outs, advanced classes in core areas to in class differentiation. Programming needs are determined in collaboration with teachers, parents, students and the GT facilitator and are continuously monitored for effectiveness. We follow all CDE laws and regulations for identification and ALP development.

My name is Erin Hastedt and I am the Gifted and Talented Coordinator for MA West and East campuses. I have 20 years of experience in the field of gifted education, an endorsement in GT and am also the parent of two highly gifted teenagers. My approach to gifted education is personal, individualized and need-based. In the past, I have used a variety of strategies and options to program for my students including acceleration, project-based passion learning and subject enrichment. I am very hands-on and love to see my students and work with them daily or weekly at least! Over the years I have developed strong connections with students and families so I hope to get to know all of you very well. I am SENG trained and have lots of experience in working around the social-emotional needs of gifted students and adults so please reach out if your child is struggling. The best way to reach me is via email but I also like to meet with parents and students face to face at the beginning of the year and throughout the year as needed. I will send many emails with pertinent information about programming, social-emotional options, and ALP development and compliance needs. I usually respond within a few hours (if not sooner) and expect parents to respond within 24 hours to individual emails. Collaboration and honest, direct communication is important to me! I plan to meet with all students within the first few weeks to get to know them and begin to develop ALP goals. For parents who need more support or enjoy learning more about giftedness, I will send articles, information about conferences, and other relevant information regarding all things gifted! The more you know, the better you can help navigate parenting gifted kids.
